“You expected to be sad in the fall. Part of you died each year when the leaves fell from the trees and their branches were bare against the wind and the cold, wintery light. But you knew there would always be the spring, as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen.”
— Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast
Today is a snow day, yes? I love the snow. I really think I would happy to live in the North Country, and enjoy it. Of course I dont know that for sure, because I have never been exposed to snow for long periods of time, but I can always dream. Do you like the snow? Or, are you a sun person? I even like all the rain we have been having these past few days. I dont really mind it. No story to tell today, but as on most Fridays, here are this week’s Highs and Lows:
Highs:
- SNOW DAY!
- Mailing off gear to be cleaned and calibrated. Dont really like the bill, but I haven’t had any of my gear calibrated since I got it, so it was time and I feel better now!
- Coffee. Ive been enjoying it a lot this week. So warm and delicious.
Lows:
- Renewing my passport. This one is bittersweet. It means I can legally go to Scotland, but it costs a pretty penny.

oh I do love me some SNOW. i would so gladly move to a place that got tons and tons of snow. ben thinks one winter of that would cure my love and longing for snow, but i love to tell him he is wrong.
i could probably sit for hours and watch it fall! aaaand i agree…i’ve totally loved the rain this week too. yay for renewed passports!
That’s so funny that you’re renewing your passport because I just told my husband last night that I need to do that for a possible trip this summer! It IS a pretty penny!
And this snow is great! I lived in the north for 20 years and I can tell you from experience that Virginia knows how to do it – 2 days and then it’s gone. In Maine the snow stuck around til May! Waaay too long.
I’m going to college at Michigan Tech… we get a good 150-200 inches of snow a year! It’s a winter wonderland for sure
We have lots of snow in the South West of England – don’t get me wrong I love snow but it’s a pain when you need to get things done! Lovely photograph – I need to get and take some before it’s all gone!
