Laura emailed me a few months ago wanting to talk wedding photography, but what she didn’t know was that Michael had also emailed me wanting to talk about doing a special surprise engagement session for Laura. So, we all met at a coffee shop one day to chat about their wedding and get to know one another, and Michael and I kept our lips sealed.
Once Michael had hammered out all the details and the date and time were set I drove down 64 to meet them at a campground in Williamsburg, VA. Well, actually Michael scouted out this awesome cornfield about a mile or two away from the campground and that is where we started. I pulled my car over and waited. I see Michael pulling up beside be and there is Laura, SO SHOCKED. She had no idea and was so excited, nervous, blown away by all the things Michael had planned for her. And, it was her birthday to boot. Way to go Michael!
I have to give Laura some props because most girls have months to plan for their engagement sessions. They plan outfits, jewelry, hair, shoes, and Im pretty some of them start practicing their model face as well! Laura totally rocked it, and had such fun dresses to wear. She was nervous at first and couldn’t stop laughing at being so surprised, but she was such a treat to photograph!

As we were walking back to our cars we passed this big blob that a ton of kids were jumping like crazy on. I meekly asked is Michael and Laura would jump on it for me. Thank goodness they agreed! I love Michael’s face in the one on the left!
The kids were so excited to see grown ups jumping it took some coercing to let me get a picture with just Michael and Laura, Im glad they listened. I love these last two…
