Even with the weird weather, I am seeing signs of spring. All over Instagram, in our own yard, and the feeling in the air. I like to think that Spring and Fall have their own smell. Do you think that too? Or, do you think Im crazy? I think they each have their own distinct smell, and I smell it each time I leave the house lately. It’s coming, and it’s close. It makes me really excited for this coming year. I think 2013 is going to be a great one!
As I do on most Fridays, here are this week’s Highs and Lows!
Highs:
- VCU WON LAST NIGHT!!! It was one of those games where I started to feel bad for the other team and was praying for our team to start missing some shots. Bad, right?
- We cleaned out our basement on Wednesday and got some shelves to better organize things. Something you may not know about me: I rarely go in our basement. I’ve probably been down there less than 20 times in the 4 years we have lived here. Its not that its that creepy, in fact a lot of people comment on how nice of a basement it is. But, you know what? The ceiling isn’t finished, and I see cobwebs when I go down there which only means one thing: SPIDERS WILL DROP ON ME. I hate going down there. Thank goodness Jared does our Laundry because that is where our washer and dryer are!
- My hair is long enough for a bun!
Lows:
- Probably one of the worst lows that could happen, happened. One of my best friends from high school lost her father one week ago to cancer. I have no words and my heart is heavy for her and her mom. He will be missed deeply.
Ive been munching on these tiny clementine’s from Trader Joe’s lately. The bright orange makes me happy. What are your highs and lows this week? I’d love to hear!

For your friend & her mom I highly recommend Earl Grollman’s book Living When A Loved One Has Died. When you’re grieving & can’t concentrate to read a book, you can still read this book. There’s just a few sentences on each page. It is so spot-on accurate that the grieving reader thinks “did he interview me for this book??” It really helped me when my mom very suddenly & unexpectedly died. 3 months before my wedding. 5 months before my sister’s wedding. That was 16 years ago.
Gotta love those kids.
PS – GO RAMS
Spring? SPRING?!?!?!?!?! Look out the window! ITS SNOWING!!!!!
