Olympics 2012!

by Lauryn on July 27, 2012 in Highs & Lows

Ohhhhh friends!! The Olympics are starting tonight, and I am SO EXCITED.  I love love love the Olympics!!  Literally thinking about it is giving me chills.  Im totally one of those Americans who only cares about Americans winning the most medals.  Dont get me wrong, I know we wont win medals in everything… but I am rooting for us to win the most!  Annoying American, party of one!

Some of my favorites Summer sports are the swimming events, (diving, synchronized, whatever its called that Michael Phelps competes in, etc…) track and field events, gymnastics, and rowing (because I used to row!) I think I like the Winter Olympics more, gasp! But, thats mostly because I like the cold most.  Well, as usual here are this weeks highs and lows!

Highs:

  • OLYMPICS!!!!
  • Trying lots of new recipes this week. 5 total! I really enjoy cooking, and I am determined to make my 25 before 25 goal with this!
  • Jared and I discovered a new section of our favorite neighborhood in Richmond yesterday… I have spent many minutes looking up home prices…

Lows:

  • Duncan has been having some stomach issues lately and has been producing at least one hair ball a day.  GROSS.
  • Pretty disappointed in Ralph Laurens design for the female American Athletes… Can we say Hilary Clinton of the 1990′s??

But here are some of my favorite images I have been seeing for the London Olympics!

So friends, what are your favorite events?? Are you as excited as me, or are you kinda meh about the Olympics? Who wants to take bets on how many medals we will bring home??

London is such a neat city. We have spend several days at different times there seeing things. Once we rode the Tube into central London, and then walked all over the historic part. Can’t remember everything we saw. The Palace was the last thing and we were so tired by then, that we just viewed the house from several blocks away. I just could not walk down there to see it up close. I was eager to get back on the Tube to be able to sit for while to get back to where we were staying.
I look forward to the Olympics too, especially tonight for the first night and all the countries contestants marching in!

hahah the event that Michael Phelps competes in IS swimming. the others (diving, etc.) are just pool-related events. i love swimming, gymnastics, diving, and rowing, but we don’t have cable so i hope i get to catch a few of each somehow!!

I loooooove the Olympics, too! Can’t get enough…happy to watch the super-obscure events. I prefer the winter games, if I have to choose (I totally wanted to be a speed skater, ala Bonnie Blair, when I was a kid), but the summer games rock the house all the same. Happy XXX Olympiad, everyone!

Thoroughly obsessed with the Olympics, every minute of every event, every 2 yrs I’m in heaven watching it….I can sleep after it’s over!
I treasure the memory of meeting an official from the Virgin Islands Olympic Team many years ago. He gave me an official pin…..I wear it on my labcoat every Olympiad. This year I got creative & attached it to some red ribbon & blue satin cording & I’m wearing it as a necklace!
