Cotton.

by Lauryn on January 16, 2012 in Personal

The touch, the feeeeel of cotton…the fabric of our lives.  The cotton we grew this year is all finished.  I displayed it with my cookbooks.  I know it serves no purpose this way, but I still like it.

Pretty, no? In case you are new around these parts, the traditional 2nd year anniversary gift is cotton. Jared gave me cotton seeds (he is so clever,) and we grew ourselves some cotton plants.

Anyone have any other ideas that I could do with it? I dont think there is enough to make actual thread…

I would tie a string and a tag to each piece and both of you write something about the gift of the seeds, the labor of love physically with the planting and checking on it and emotionally between the two of during the course of the growth of the cotton. and maybe a tag about a few favorite memories from year number two!!! and keep it displayed just like you have it in the picture. its beauty-full.

I think display it in a mason jar with lid on…..to avoid dust on that precious cotton! I suppose if you REALLY love your birds you could put it outside for them to use in their nests this spring.

That’s such a sweet and thoughtful gift! I’ve never heard of anyone growing their own cotton- sounds neat!
