Full Time.

by Lauryn on July 25, 2012 in Business

When I first started this business, I will admit that I never really wanted to imagine where it could go.  I would day dream about the possibilities, but when directly asked I would shy away from the idea that this business could support a full life.  I have worked some sort of other job this entire time, except until recently.  Ive worked at a bank, Ive worked a retail job, at a med-spa, at an ice cream store, and probably some other places too.  Why have I had so many jobs? Another topic for another post.

But, for the last year and a half, I have been a nanny to 3 wonderful little girls. They have taught me so much about myself and how I hope to mother one day.  They filled me with joy, peace, frustration, tears, and laughter.  Through a series of events with her full time job, their sweet Momma who is a dear friend of mine, decided it would be best for their family at this point in time for her to come home for a bit.   Which meant I was given the unique opportunity to also come home and work full time on my business.  This was the original goal, it just came a little sooner than we had anticipated.

Its taken me a few weeks to really process this new life and new work schedule.  Ive never had complete quiet to answer emails or quickly get a blog post up.  Its always been in between lunch, walks, naps, or movies.  Its all very quiet now…although I do find myself talking to my cats more.

So what does this mean? It means I am more available.  It means faster turn around times.  It means more freedom to grow. It means I need to start really imagining where this business should go!  It means I need to strongly defend my business when people who dont understand it try to “help” and offer up ideas about things I should be doing instead.

Considering going FT? Be patient and wait for the right time, you can run a successful business while working other jobs if you need to!
