Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Its a mix of all of my favorite things: hearty food, fall, cozy clothes, pretending to watch football, friends, and family. There is nothing better!
For the past 5 years, Jared and I have been hosting a Thanksgiving potluck feast for our friends. Its one of the highlights of the fall for us! In the past, we have designed our own invites, but this year we wanted to order them. Designing them ourselves was getting a little tedious and we wanted a more professional finish. We looked at several online paper companies and settled on our favorite design.
We loved that it included lots of different handwritten fonts, and had a bit of whimsy to it. Now that everyone has received their invite, I thought I would share it with you! Its by Tiny Prints. We love the quality and ordering them was super easy.
Im so excited! Do any of you host or attend friendsgivings? Any Thanksgiving haters out there like Chandler?

Such a fun idea and tradition! I love it!
those are so cute! i love the idea of celebrating thanksgiving with friends….like Friends. i’m not much for thanksgiving because i hate that kind of food – yeah i’m a freak. (my all-time favorite food is mexican.) haha i can totally relate to pretending to watch football – i never understood a SINGLE thing about it until a few years ago, but i still mostly just stare at the screen instead of actually watching it
so cute! never done a “friendsgiving” because my entire life we’ve traveled out of state to spend thanksgiving with family, and that’s still the case now that i’m married. so, we use up all of the days around thanksgiving to get as much time with family as possible. i love the idea, though! sounds super fun.
do you do it with your friends ON thanksgiving, or the day before or after?
I LOVE your invites!! When I lived in Morgantown, my roommates and I did this every year and quickly became one of our favorite traditions (along with a Christmas cookie exchange and lasagna night). We usually had about 15 friends over and celebrated near finals week because who doesn’t love a good home cooked meal during stressful times?! Derek and I are hosting a friendsgiving this year but since we’re so far away from everyone else, it’s hard to work with everyone’s schedule. Hope yours turns out wonderfully!
LOVE THIS!!!!
This is one of our favorite traditions, too! We call it “Raptor Meal” in homage to the first year’s humble beginnings (a few of us haphazardly raptor-ing meat off of the freshly grilled, post-Thanksgiving-priced turkey), and everyone gets far more excited about it than Thanksgiving, even. The food has grown more and more gourmet, we first added beer, then some nice wines, and we finally (gasp!) allowed the use of forks on the turkey this past year, so it’s been a fun measuring stick of years of friendship… Fun times.
Great invites, too!
I still remember your first turkey. And Jared grossing out over it. Heh.
i am hosting my first friendsgiving this year! i am so excited!
Although it was a familygiving rather than a friendsgiving, one year, early in our marriage, we had to cancel the trip out of state to my family because, of all things, our dogs had kennel cough & could not be boarded! So we scored a last minute, night before turkey day invite to my husband’s family celebration nearby. It ended up being a carb-free Thanksgiving when a pyrex exploded in the oven & shards of glass and flames ruined the stuffing, corn pudding, candied yams & rolls! The turkey & green beans were devoured & everyone was glad that the firemen didn’t have to spray any water in the house to extinguish the flames! When we got home we had to leave our clothes on the back porch to air out from the smoke smell!
This is such a great idea!! Those invites are adorable. I really want to steal this idea and make it a tradition of my own!
SO CUTE!!! and i love the friends reference!
