Couples/Engagements
I first heard about Katy and Mark through Heather and Birch. Katy is a nurse just like Heather, and they have been good friends for quite a while. I had the chance to meet Mark’s sweet kids several months ago during a family photo session. I dont offer them anymore, but I absolutely loved my time walking around with Mark, and his family! I remember talking with Katy at Heather and Birch’s reception about how it was her turn, teasing of course! Well a few months later, Mark proposed to Katy and now it IS her turn!
We walked around Mark’s alma mater, the University of Richmond, for a couple hours for their engagement session and I am so glad they picked this spot! This place certainly holds a lot of memories for Mark, but a lot of Katy’s family went to U of R as well! They are getting married at Cannon Memorial Chapel in a couple months, and I cant wait!! Enjoy some of my favorites!

The weather has been trying to get the best of my couples this year. So many rain days!! We lucked out with Mark and Tegan’s session, but it was a close one! On the drive home I posted a picture of the huge storm that was brewing, and it started raining about 30 minutes after I got home. Im so glad we didnt have to postpone the session because it was beautiful! Mark and Tegan are lovely in front of the camera and I cant wait for their wedding this Fall!! Enjoy some of my favorites…
Why do I love these guys? Because Tegan is wearing WHITE pants and sat on the ground for me. LOVE that!
One of Tegan’s good friends sent this from England and they thought it would be fun to do a toast at their session! I loved it! Drinking in public…no big deal. Were rebels.

I first met with Stephanie and Matt at New York Deli, here in Richmond. We talked over lunch about how they met on the cross country team in college, and how they had been engaged for a while and desperately wanted to move their wedding date up! It was one of those meetings where I walked away giddy with excitement and PRAYING they would book me. I liked them instantly and knew that I wanted to photograph them!! Thankfully they liked me too, and I am so honored to be shooting their wedding in June!
My favorite part of Matt and Stephanie is the way they laugh together. Whether Stephanie is teasing Matt, or he has said something hilarious to her, they are laughing together.

This is an old church pew they brought into the orchard. They are going to refinish it for the wedding as well! Eeks!
This orchard and surrounding farm is owned and run by Stephanie’s family. It was so special for them to have their engagements done here. And bonus for me, it was so gorgeous.

As we were driving around, I saw this falling down farmhouse and definitely wanted to use it. But, did you know that orchards need bees in order to thrive? Yeah, we were about 20 feet from a hive…I worked quickly.

First, I should tell you that Steph was walking through this orchard in heels, which made me love her even more. And secondly, I should tell you that I cant wait to share more of these!!
This is kind of serendipitous story. Liz emailed me on a Friday, and we shot this session on the next Wednesday. You see, Liz and Adam LOVE the Cherry Blossoms in D.C. Its one of their very favorite things, and they envisioned their engagement pictures underneath the branches full of soft pink blossoms. Unfortunately, something came up with their dear friend who was going to be photographing them. Do you see where this is going? You only have a small window with the blossoms. In fact, because of the unusually warm weather this year, the entire festival was moved up a week from its regular time because the trees bloomed early. Liz and Adam were doing everything they could to try and capture these blossoms! And, quite serendipitously, I had an opening on Wednesday. Jared and I drove towards the Tidal Basin at dawn and met up with Liz and Adam. It was a lovely morning, chilly and gray, but that just makes for the most beautiful color on camera. Take a look at some of my favorites…

I’m back from the cruise!! Everything was so much fun, and I cant wait to share it all with you, but first… I owe you an engagement session!
Amanda first emailed me over a year ago as an aspiring photographer just looking for someone to talk to and find friendship with. She had just started a new semester at CNU and was extremely busy but a few months later we found the time to meet up and chat! I went into the meeting expecting to hang out, make a new friend, and hopefully be able to answer some of her questions! Well, little did I know that she had gotten engaged in the time between nailing down a coffee date and our actually meeting! We immediately started talking about her wedding, how Matt had proposed, and all the ideas racing through her mind. Slowly, over time, we have become great friends, and I am so honored and happy to be photographing her wedding this coming October!
The three of us met up on a super sunny afternoon in Yorktown and we had ourselves a grand ole time! This is probably the first session where I was laughing so much I found it hard to concentrate on actually doing my job…photographing Matt and Amanda! To say that Matt is funny, or silly, is an understatement and my abs got their workout for the day! I love when my couples can make each other laugh, and Matt and Amanda are pros at this! Enjoy some of my favorites from the session!
