Welcome to the Family.

February 24, 2010

I have been so deeply inspired by many film photographers, that I contemplate over and over whether or not I should switch to film entirely.  Some of you digital people out there may be gasping for air after reading that, but I have good reasons.  This little camera above is the cheapest and easiest addition if I choose to make the switch.  It cost me twenty dollars and of all the images I have seen taken with this camera, they are nothing short of true art.  It gives a beautiful natural vignette and soft romantic focus.  I can’t wait to see what it has to offer!

One More

As I am editing Mike and Kelli’s wedding, I keep finding images that I really like.  Here is one:

Bree & Jason!

February 6, 2010

I always read on other blogs about how so and so’s brides/clients are the BEST!  I always thought it was such a sweet sentiment and I have been feeling the same way, especially during Christmas when alot of my family clients sent me Christmas cards with my images on them.   I just wanted to share this little gem that showed up in my mailbox and filled me with such joy.  Bree and Jason are the couple that booked me first, for their wedding that is. They will always have a special place in my heart.  And P.S. aren’t they gorgeous?!

Kelli & Mike: Married!

February 4, 2010

I know the above image doesn’t really have anything special going on, but it’s one of the most important images of the day.  As you may have read in a previous post, Kelli and Mike decided to move the wedding date up because Mike’s father was very ill.  It is so sad for me to write this, but Mike’s father passed away about 24 hours before the wedding.  It was the father’s wish that the wedding go on no matter the circumstance.  This image is of a blessing being read over Mike and Kelli, written by Mike’s father.  The line that hit my heart(and caused the tears) was this, “Marriage is not for better or for worse, but for one.”

Kelli and Mike, thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me.  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to witness and document your wedding day.  I will always be thankful to you and both your families.  I’m so happy to have gotten to know you, I love you, and congratulations!

Aaaaaand we’re home.

Here are some lovely images of our road trip home from Pittsburgh, PA.

Road trip foods, aka Taco Bell.  So cheap, so good, so bad for your stomach.

No makeup, no shower.

He loves to wear my sunglasses.

Pittsburgh has the most AMAZING entrance into the city.  Atleast the road we took in did.  You go through a tunnel under a mountain and when you come out the other side….BAM! There is the beautiful city in all its glory and industrial bridges.  I was half asleep and instantly was wide awake after that. We had a wonderful time, I can’t wait to share the wedding with you.  Jared was a perfect assistant and I think for my first wedding (solo!) that it went really well.  Jared and I talked about what we could do differently and I will keep working to be better.  Oh yes, he’s going to be my assistant for life.  :-) We made a joke about that at the dinner and a woman placed her hand on her husband and said, “Oh yes, this is my assistant also.”  Made me laugh. Maybe you had to be there…. Check back for the wedding in a day or so!
