24.

by Lauryn on September 22, 2011 in Personal

Today, I turn 24 years old. Welcome to mid-twenties, Lauryn. So weird! It’s also the last day of summer. I’ve always loved that part of my birthday. I was born very late at night and my first real day was the first day of fall. I know there is no real significance to that, but it’s fun for me all the same.

I have seen some people do this, and I thought it would be a fun challenge for me. 25 things to do before I turn 25. Yikes. I picked some things I know I can do without much effort and I also picked things that will take some work!  Some practical things, personal things, and some spiritual things. These are in no particular order…

25 Things:

  1. Knit a scarf.  {I have started one, I just need to finish!}
  2. Fly in a plane. {Nope, never ever been on a plane before.  Crazy, right?}
  3. Take a road trip.
  4. Retry gardening. {Jared and I had a garden, but we neglected it and it became weed ridden.}
  5. Shoot a personal photography series.
  6. Run a 5k. {My friends are probably laughing at me right now.}
  7. Read 25 books.
  8. Try 25 new recipes, 5 of them baked goods.
  9. Retry bread making.
  10. Ride on a train.  {Nope, never done that either.}
  11. Go on a cruise! {This one is already scheduled!}
  12. Visit a new state.
  13. Start a journal, and keep it up.
  14. Repaint all the trim in the house.
  15. Repaint all rooms in the house, except the office.
  16. Paint front and back door RED.
  17. Hang Jared’s hammock.
  18. Pay off CC’s and Scion.
  19. Finish bedroom redo.
  20. Buy a new swimsuit. {I haven’t bought a swim suit in about 4 years.}
  21. Create some DIY art for the Bedroom and Kitchen
  22. Write letters to family members I always write to, but have neglected this year.
  23. Create a habit of walking 3x a week.
  24. Read the Old Testament. {I seriously think this is my favorite one, I am so excited about it!}
  25. Begin a true prayer life. {Our previous pastor shared something someone once told him about a prayer life…Just begin.}

Do you think I can do them all?!  I think the plane and train will be the most difficult because it costs a lot of moolah.  Or maybe running a 5k?  I know its only 3 miles and some change, but have you ever met me?  I never stick to an exercise plan!  Have you ever made a bucket list?  They are kinda of silly and kind of fun to me.

I also want to document as many of the 25 things as possible, so I think I’ll start a blog just for that.  I think?  Blogging is hard work!  But, it would be fun to have a record of it.  I’ll keep you posted!

Happy 24th to me.  :-)

{If you know Jared and I at all, you know that we are not able to keep gifts from one another until the proper day…so in true fashion, I got my gift a few days ago.  Garden gnomes.  I have been pining for some for months and months.  Aren’t they so funny? Love them.}

I have ridden planes, buses and trains, the Train was the BEST by far! and pretty affordable compared to flying! combine it with the trip to a new state and knock 2 things off your list at one time! LOVE YOU!!!

Happy birthday!!! This is such a fun idea, I love it!!! I can’t wait to start reading the blog series about it! You’ll get it all done, no worries :) And I definitely agree, trains are the best.

I guess I should take a look at that bucket list I made when I turned 24. I have to admit that I haven’t actually looked at it pretty much since I made it. I would love to discuss ideas for a new one, nothing too crazy but a few fun things and a few productive things I may just need a little extra push to get around to doing. Then we can hold each other accountable! Though you’d have a headstart, because my birthday isn’t until December 3rd.
