Ryan and Jared, my husband, have been best mates since middle school. And you know you have a good friend when they stick with you through the incredibly awkward years of middle school. I think most of Jared’s young memories are with Ryan. Some of the stories include trying to transform a 80′s Chevy Nova into a racing car by attaching cardboard to make spoilers, rims and hood scoops, or making mock Blair Witch movies while using Jared’s younger sister as an extra. She was not aware that she was in the movie (scaring her needed to look real!) Needless to say, Mom was not impressed. Not to mention countless bike rides, jam sessions, and late night talks. Schyler is yin to Ryan’s yang. She is on the short side
while Ryan is very tall. Schyler is sweet where Ryan is sarcastic. Basically they are a great fit! Jared and I are both really excited and honored to be apart of Ryan and Schyler’s wedding in August. We are hoping for an overcast day!
I have to preface the pictures by telling you Schyler has GREAT legs!! I am not afraid to say Im jealous!

They are great dippers! I can’t wait for their wedding day to have them do this!

They really wanted this session to feel like Richmond. Thankfully the people running the canal boat let us take a few on the boat! They are some of my favorites. I asked them to place their foreheads together in this picture. And you cannot even tell they didn’t really want to. Because it was SO HOT. We were all drippppping with sweat. You wouldnt want to touch anyone’s sweaty forehead either!

I know the last few all are similar-but the light was sooooo gorgeous I couldnt stop myself!

I loved Schyler’s dress! It was such a great color source. I normally like alot of black and white images, but the color in her dress was so perfect I couldn’t cover it up!

Love you guys!! So excited for your wedding in August!!
I can’t wait for John and Andrea’s wedding! These two got up early with me on a Sunday morning and walked around in the intense heat. I sweat alot in case you were wondering, I know you were.
So in between me dabbing my forehead and wiping the back of the camera screen, they were total troopers and got some great stuff. And it doesn’t hurt that they are both gorgeous!!

I can’t decide between the next two!

This time is was for the beautiful, Ms. Katie Stoops!! Katie is so funny! I had such a great night with her at the Poe Museum and Havana 59. I really have enjoyed second shooting for lots of different photographers because every photographer does things differently. I see things that I never would have thought of on my own and things that aren’t for me. I learn a ton!
Nichole and Derk’s wedding was so relaxed and pretty! They are both really funny and have such a great energy together. And it doesn’t hurt that they are both gorgeous. Don’t believe me? Just look….

Katie!!!!!! Isn’t she cute?

Jared and I had and “us” day after breakfast this morning. We thought we would take a drive to Ashland and walk around a little. We stopped into Ashland Tea and Coffee. I got an ice cream drink and Jared ordered iced coffee. Jared was handed the cup you see above, filled with frozen coffee ice cubes. We looked at each other and walked over to sit down, staring at his cup. We couldn’t stop laughing! Im thinking-Okay Ashland, thats a good joke. Giving your customers ice cubed coffee. Ha ha ha. After sitting there catching our breath from laughing, thinking of who we could bring to the shop, telling them we had found the best iced coffee, and play the prank on them-we started to really wonder why they had done this. There is no way a restaurant that wants business is going to play tricks on its customers. Then we realized maybe you are supposed to pour the hot coffee they always have out on top of the ice cubes. Yeah. The joke was totally on us. Its actually pretty genius, that way your coffee doesnt get watered down. However we had a great time laughing about it

Oh man! I just loved this wedding! I mean, the ceremony was on an island-how much better can that get?? I had the awesome opportunity to second shoot with the amazingly talented, Katelyn James. Be sure to check out her post, here. She is just so great, and was our wedding photographer.
Rochelle and David’s wedding was filled with love. For the Lord, for each other, and their family. They had two worship songs during the ceremony. I was just standing on the edge of the water watching people raise their hands and truly worship the Lord. I probably don’t have to tell you that I was crying and singing along as well. Thank you to Katelyn, Rochelle and David for letting me come along and help document the day! It was such an honor!

Love you Katelyn!!

Exclamation points are the only way for me to somewhat accurately describe how I am feeling right now. See that camera? I have been drooling over it ever since I started to investigate switching to film. I have one of my own now!! Jared gets to be my model for a while while I get acclimated to not being able to check the back of my camera to make sure I exposed something correctly. Next in line for me to practice on are my lovely friends. Get ready.
So why film? Why on earth would you switch to film? Well, I can say this because I have done both for about the same amount of time. I like it better. I like creating something. I took a BW darkroom class in high school. Not saying anything I did back then was very good (there is one image I am proud of) but my favorite class of all time was that one. And I had a pretty sweet time in high school-so thats saying something. I could spend hours in the darkroom developing negatives and watching them come into focus in the chemical basins. I like using my brain. I don’t like that I constantly look on the LCD screen to check the image. I know that film will challenge me. Not saying that digital photography doesnt require me to use my brain-it definitely does. There is so much to think about when youre creating an image. I just like that film requires me to be more confident in my exposing. I also like that it will cut down on post production times. I really dread the computer work involved with digital photography. And with film-I send it to a lab and they do most of the work. I will probably have to touch up images or tweak them but not every single image. I just like it. And I think it fits me better.
I wont be doing film exclusively for a while. I need more cameras for that.
But once I feel good about how its looking-which will probably take several months, I will be using it alot. So! If you are a bride, or are thinking about working with me, do not fret! This camera and film will only make things better. And if its not doing that-then I wont be using it. Amazing photographers use this camera-so I can be sure that if I can learn to work it well, it will be awesome!
I can’t wait to share what this camera has to offer! Stay tuned!

Ill be sure to add that to the full post! Make sure you check out Katie’s sneak peek here.

This wedding was one of the best experiences I have had by far! I was able to second shoot for Katelyn James. She was our wedding photographer and someone who really inspired me to get back into photography. If you have the chance to work with her-DO IT! She is unbelievably kind and patient with everyone, God has really blessed me with her friendship. And this wedding! It was so unique. I will tell you more about it in the full post….for now-enjoy that beautiful bouquet!
